Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Freddie is a 6-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Freddie weighs 75 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
Fencing: Needs physical fence
Oct 11, 2017: In the short month that he has been with in his foster home, he has definitely become a family dog. He navigates the house and the stairs with no trouble. He uses that dog door. He sleeps through the night and can be left loose in the house. Freddie is learning to walk on the easy walk harness. He lays quietly next to his foster while they are on the computer. He would like to cuddle on the couch now that he has figured out where his foster sits in the evening. Freddie enjoys playing with dogs big and small. Watch him here: https://youtu.be/OuAuJkaSaCw He loves company. He rides well in the car but does enjoy his head out the window. Freddie is amazing!
Sep 30, 2017: Freddie is amazing. He has gone from a blind dog roaming the streets in West Virginia, a month and a half in the veterinary hospital having two surgeries to his foster home where he has figured out life as a family dog. Freddy comes to his name, knows his way around the house, goes up and down the stairs to sleep with us at night and has figured out the dog door. This boy loves attention, wants to please and wants his own forever family. He is a great dog and will make a great addition to any home.
Sep 16, 2017: Freddie is the coolest dog! he is so happy to finally be in a foster home! He is doing much better at not being a maniac in the car and slept the entire trip home. Freddy is newly blind but it does not slow him down at all. He found the automatic dog waterer straight away. He and the resident lab played and played until now they are both napping. He is a very sweet engaging dog who will make the right family a great companion.
Aug 16, 2017: Freddie is a lovely and energetic boy with places to go to. He would benefit from having a physical fence in his future home because he loves to explore. He does best walking with an Easy Walk harness as he is strong and pulls if on a regular leash. This boy is lovely and friendly. Because he is blind, you need to let him know that you're approaching by clapping, talking, or making some sound so he knows and doesn't get startled. He will go to the eye doctor in the next week to get evaluated. Freddie did well meeting other dogs at the shelter, but don't let a dog just jump up on him since he won't be able to see where they're coming from. He wags his tail hard and wants to go meet them. Freddie rides well in the car, but he must be tethered or crated so he's not trying to help you drive. We don't have any cat or kid history, so he's approved for kids 10 and up.
