My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper is a 3-year-old neutered male chocolate lab. Cooper weighs 72 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

Cooper and Harley are a bonded pair and must go together.

Cooper & Harley are from a rural area and have not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

Sept 7, 2017: Cooper and Harley are a wonderful bonded pair. Cooper is a shy guy and gets his confidence from Harley. Harley is a love bug! They both ride great in the car and just sleep in the backseat. They do everything together, and even love to snuggle together. It's really cute! They both are house trained and crate trained although they don't really need to be crated. They figured out the dog door quickly and enjoy playing with each other outside.

August 6, 2017: Cooper & Harley are friendly and love to be with you and be petted. Not sure who is the boss as they take turns. Cooper is now the first to chase after a toy but Harley will bring it back.
They were very shy when they first came in but that was to be expected, the only place they have been was their home. Harley was the first to come up and get attention and let me pet her, now Cooper will push his way to get in front of her. They are bonded and will let you know when one is not close by. They would like to have a family that is active and can give them love, attention, training and exercise so they will thrive. They need a fenced yard as they have never been in a home without one.
Kids 10 and up as we have no history. Good with other dogs, have been out with other Lab Rescue dogs with no problems. No cat history. Knows sit, come and sometimes down. Pull on lead when walked together both want to take the lead. Better with an Easy Walk Harness. Have only been in crates at the vets and during transports but did well in them. May be house trained as they are keeping runs clean at kennel.

Heartworm positive- Lab Rescue will provide Cooper’s Heartworm treatment, at no cost to the adopter, at one of our designated vets. The requirement to treat the dog at Lab Rescue’s vet is included in the contracts “Heartworm Treatment Addendum”. Adopters are encouraged speak with the Lab Rescue Heartworm Coordinator prior to adoption to learn more about the treatment process.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP.
