Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Disoriented and terrified, after suffering an appalling betrayal by their former family, Fabio and a sibling, Whoopi, were found by a fellow cat rescuer in Highland Park (Brooklyn, NY). Being unfamiliar with what is needed to properly care for and provide for guinea pig well-being, he quickly reached out to us for help. Now safe in their separate foster homes, Whoopi and Fabio are learning, and slowly adjusting to human kindness and knowledgeable care. Already seen by our vet, and with new spacious housing and daily outside of cage time, our new friends are getting comfortable while they await for their forever human families to come along.
Fabio is timid and tentative when he first encounters a human, but he is making progress everyday. He now allows his foster mom to pick him up, and he will happily sit nestled against her or in front of her when grooming is involved. Fabio's long mane requires daily brushing to remain untangled and clean, and while guinea pigs are efficient self-groomers, long-haired ones require baths and even trimming from time to time as their coats can drag and easily become soiled. Since Fabio was abandoned outside, he required a bath to clean his coat soon after arriving to us, but despite any apprehension he may have been experiencing, he blissfully sat while being pampered, expressing his likes and dislikes in different ways and even taking the styling in his own paws once his coat had been toweled, brushed and blow-dried. This handsome boy is starving for human attention and he will reward a gentle and patient human with all the love he has to give. Fabio is generally quiet but he is starting to find his voice, coached by the older piggies in his foster home.
Fabio is a Peruvian guinea pig, around 5 month old, in good health as per our vet, and ready for his new life to begin. If interested in meeting and adopting Fabio get in touch! Email adopt@emptycagescollective.org.
Please note- Fabio is ONLY looking for a home that has either another male piggy, or a spayed female guinea pig already there.
