Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Do you need a companion who is already house trained?, eager to love and please you?, playful but not crazy?, can be a cuddly couch potato at times? yet super smart and willing to do whatever you say???! Then you need Leah! She has blended wonderfully (from Day One) in our home. Now 2 months later, she has had free reign for all but a few days and she's been wonderful and accident free! She's beyond the chewing on table legs stage, but still playful with appropriate dog toys (and dogs - she plays with our other two beagles! Not to mention our children who love to play with her!) Whoever adopts Leah will have an extremely loving dog who *knows* and *appreciates* everything you do for her. I have adopted many dogs and most of them just seem to fit in and take everything for granted - (not that I mind that particular attitude.) Leah, on the other hand, is one who really 'gets it' and seems to want to go the extra mile to please you and make sure she's doing the 'right stuff' to curry your favor. Such a sweetie!!! She will catch on to your unique way of doing things immediately. She potties on leash or off. Leah responds right away to being called. She is not aggressive in any way and even let me put our guinea pig right on top of her - - gave it a quick sniff and put her head right back down! What a gentle girl! A true lady. I believe she is a cross between a border collie and beagle. She is small - to medium (around 20 lbs) and is just the easiest thing to deal with. She's a great dog and deserves a forever home where she can become a permanent part of the family.
She was very happy, lots of wagging and was very loving to all of us. I even gave her a bath first thing (she was pretty clean, but I just like to do it..and after I dried her off and let her go, she just laid down and rolled over for me to pet her - - after I put her through all that!
She's getting along with both doggies and actually Martha better than Buddy. Buddy is our 'little old man'. He likes things to be the same way every day ... no changes. If he wants to play, fine, but nobody can play if HE doesn't want to... etc. Not to mention he's a little put out due to the whole concept of the new addition. Lea is opening up with Martha and the two of them have had at least 2 really good/gentle play sessions. Martha wants Leah to chase her, but Leah likes to kind of roll and wrestle. So cute.
She follows me around pretty much. And if she's not *right* next to me, she's somewhere within eyeshot of me. She slept on the bed on top of the covers at our feet. (Her choice, I tried to get her to cuddle up with me under the covers but that didn't last.) She reminds me a lot of another dog I had: Blue. I think she's really smart and probably mixed with border collie from the looks of her. I also brushed her teeth and trimmed her nails. She could use a professional teeth cleaning.
She is eating fine. She had one accident inside. I crated them all together today and it went very well. I'll leave her out of the crate tomorrow and see how that goes. She rides wonderfully in the car. She's Great! We all love her.
She's mature (doesn't get into trouble with kids toys laying around, doesn't try to bite/chew furniture, not interested in general destruction the way puppies can be... Martha STILL is! ugh I think the Chinese are lacing the polyfil in toys with cocaine. Martha can't get enough of it. She doesn't eat it,she just 'extracts' it, strews it about the room and smells it... she's a mess.)
She is great with kids. We even had a double sleepover on Saturday night and all the kids were all over her and she loved it. Very gentle and submissive. Rolls right over for tummy rubs - which they all gladly gave her.
The only thing I noticed is that she doesn't like to be picked up... especially under her arms. I did it once when she seemed to want to get up on the couch with me and only put her front paws up and half-jumped. So I reached over to help her get up and she wasn't having any of that. No biting or anything even close to it, just pulled back hard and yipped.
Well, that's the update. She's a joy.
