UPDATED BIO 08/07/2018: Baloo wanted to give everyone an update on how he is doing. Here's what he had to say recently:

Hello Everyone,

I am Baloo - a mellowed-out and very chilled yorkie. I am not really into making new friends with animals or people, but I believe in giving myself 1,000 percent to my owners. I enjoy the occasional belly rub and just relaxing with a toy on the recliner with my owner.

Ideally, I would be very happy with an enclosed backyard like I have in my foster home. I love to exercise and keep my boyish figure and my foster parents have spoiled me by letting me just run free without a leash or harness so some might say I like to streak.

Is there anyone else out there that just wants to pet their dog and be left alone by the world because I am that dog. I am well-trained and also bilingual. I understand both Spanish and English and I react to hand commands also.

Here are the very few things I need in a forever home:

- a fenced backyard for me to run free. Oh, and to meditate – yup, I love to meditate in the outdoors. Don’t you? I need a home, no apartment or condo dwellers, please.

- a forever home free of other animals. I want to be your one and only so that I can give you lots (and I do mean lots!) of attention and love.

- No children. Since I’m mature, I prefer my humans to be mature, too.

- A home with someone who just wants a loyal companion. That’s me! And that’s what I want in my human.

UPDATED BIO 06/21/2018: Calling all the single ladies, I am a mature handsome dog who prefers the company of women. I am trained better then most men you will find and I love to cuddle and have my belly rubbed. I am also loyal (more so then most men) I am attentive and I take up very little room nor do I shed... I would love a home where I am the only pet and ideally a backyard I can play in. I really don't do well with small children.

I am a one person type of dog and ideally do not like to share my owner. If you are a person who loves to have a little morsel of love beside you while your reading a book or watching TV. UPDATED BIO 12/11/2017: Avoid the Christmas rush and get yourself the best gift ever. I am Baloo - a very sweet and adorable 11 year old yorkie. PLEASE NOTE!!!! I NEED AN ENCLOSED BACKYARD AND I ALSO NEED TO BE THE ONLY DOG IN THE HOME. I also do not do well with children or cats.

Like a lot of humans, I have lived a difficult life and because of my age, and as a result of my past life’s difficulties, I prefer to live a quiet mellow life now. I love to be petted and have my tummy rubbed and head scratched. I do enjoy sleeping in the bed and ….. BONUS! - I am also house-trained. My advanced training means I will heel, sit, and sometimes stay. I love to give high fives for treats.

I would consider myself a low-maintenance kind of fellow; however, it does take me a little time to get acclimated to my new surroundings. My ideal forever home would be with an older retired person or couple where I will be the center of attention – and the center of their world. Yup, I’d really like that. I prefer to spend most of my time outdoors in my own private dog park that you humans would call an ENCLOSED BACK YARD. Please - no apartment or condo dwellers.

Updated bio 8-29-17 Hello, my name is Baloo. I am 11 years old and weigh a lucky 13 pounds. Right now I am living in Clearwater, FL in my foster home. Here's what you should know about me. I generally like to keep to myself and mind my own business. I do enjoy time with my owner, but other than that I am content with my toys. I am in very good health. I have been through advanced obedience training. I have no dental issues which is rare for my age, but I have been very well taken care-of in my previous home. And guess what? I am house-trained and a really good eater too.

My perfect home would be a home with ABSOLUTELY no other pets or children. I like to have all the attention and love. I like a quiet environment and am looking for a stay-at-home person who likes the same. I do have a strong character, so I need an owner who is familiar with dogs like me, especially one with a snarky attitude that a Yorkie can sometimes have; I will take over the house if you let me, so I kinda need owners with a strong character, too, lol! My owners may have to rein me in a little and show me my boundaries from time-to-time - maybe. I really need a fenced/enclosed backyard to play in. I am not a dog park or neighborhood kind of dog. Please don't be scared. I am friendly, loving, loyal and obedient, and really pretty much maintenance-free except for the required belly rub now and then. I look forward to meeting my new parent or parents. I will give you lots of kisses and love. Don't pass me by if you think you would like a special dog like me.

UPDATED BIO 07/07/2017: Here's a note from Baloo:

Hello future Parents

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Baloo and I am a mature gentleman at 11 years old. Because I have been taken such good care of at my most recent vet visit, I was found to be in excellent health and cleared to go to my forever home.

My ideal home would be a home much like myself - older and retired. Why? Because we can sit around and watch the world go by. I'm not a fan of a lot of excitement and I don't bark much. I really just love to walk around the back yard (preferably fenced). I love toys. I am almost like a puppy in that regard and I bring them to bed with me.

So now you know about me, and that I'm a laid-back gentleman. Oh! Now this is impressive. I have been to Obedience School and I can do a few tricks. Pretty cool, huh? There's something else you need to know. I want to be your one and only animal. That way, you can devote all of your attention to me - that's the way I like it!

Please ask my Foster Parents any questions if you are interested in adopting and loving me.

INITIAL 06-25-17: Baloo just arrived at this foster home today. He was so glad to be there. It seems there was this young dog in his former home that was not being very nice to Baloo. He wanted Baloo to play with him all the time and although Baloo is a young 11 year old fellow, he no longer has the energy of a puppy and he was just so unhappy. Baloo's mom knew Baloo needed a quiet, calm home where he would be the only dog.

Baloo did great in the long car ride to his foster home. He is house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is a good eater. Baloo is a healthy dog and has many wonderful years left. He needs a home with no other dogs and no kids. He would love a stay-at-home mom and/or dad if that is possible.

Baloo is settling into his foster home and already his foster mom and dad said he is one great dog and is loving the attention he is getting from them. Much more to come on this cutie as his foster parents get to know him.
