My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 04/20/09: MEET MISSY - she is an 8 y/o adorable malti-poo; Missy weighs 7.0# and is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Missy has been waiting for her forever home for over a year now! Missy and her mom Precious are yorkie 'wannabe's'........but that doesn't mean they don't need love. Something has happened in Missy's life that is quite remarkable and I hope that everyone who reads her bio will understand how very far she has come in the past 13 months. When Missy came into UYR, she was very withdrawn, timid and rejected human companionship...she cowered when you approached her and even squinted her eyes as if someone was going to hit her. This behavior continued....and continued....until 6-7 weeks ago when something 'clicked' in her - it's as if it almost happened overnight. She sought out our companionship and wanted to lie beside us and on us - especially Foster Dad. She and Precious started playing with one another and even asked the other dogs in the foster home to play with them! They would run around and around each other outside, getting into the play pose and then kicking up the grass with their back feet as if they were off to the races! Foster Mom & Dad are thrilled at this new side of Missy - she has a delightful personality. FM started throwing a Gruffle Ball(check them out in our Yorkie Shoppe - the dogs love 'em!) and asking Missy to 'go get it'. Much to FM's surprise, Missy immediately ran after the ball, picked it up (she doesn't have too many teeth so this is a feat in itself!) and brought it to FM's feet. She was reluctant at first to drop it, but now knows the "drop it" command and will eagerly wait to see where it will be thrown next. For anyone who has seen a shy, unsocialized dog become an outgoing and happy dog - you know the wonderful feeling this brings. FM & FD are convinced that little Missy just needed more time to trust humans again, to know that she wouldn't be hit or scolded, and to know that she will be unconditionally loved. This little princess has been waiting for a long time for her very own forever home......if you want to experience the thrill of knowing what a difference you can make in a foster dog's life, please consider giving sweet Missy the forever home she so richly deserves..........Miracles Do Happen!

UPDATE 02-12-09: MEET MISSY - she is a 8 y/o adorable malti-poo; Missy weighs 6.5# and is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Missy has been waiting for her forever home for almost a year now! Missy and her mom Precious are yorkie 'wannabe's'........but that doesn't mean they don't need love....... Please consider adopting this little princess.............

UPDATE 01-15-09: MEET MISSY - she is a 8 y/o adorable malti-poo; Missy weighs 6.5# and is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Missy has been waiting for her forever home for 10 months now! She's so sad that most folks overlook her for the younger dogs - but she is a very sweet little girl who would love to have a forever home of her own. Please consider adopting this little princess.............

UPDATE 12-03-08: MEET MISSY: She is an 8 y/o adorable malti-poo; she weighs 6.5# and is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Missy thought she was going to be adopted along with her mom, Precious, but the adoption didn't go through..........so she is still waiting, waiting, waiting for her forever home. Missy is a sweet little girlie who only wants to have a forever home of her own. When her former owner died, the family took both Missy and her mom to the shelter to be PTS. Thankfully, UYR was there to save their lives. Missy only needs a small little bed to sleep in, a tiny little outside area to go potty in, and a lap that is willing to allow her to sleep in.....she is so deserving of her very own home. It would be wonderful if she and her mom, Precious (see below) could be adopted together, however, it has been decided to separate them if it means one of them will have a forever home. Please consider adopting this little princess........

UPDATED BIO 10-29-08: Missy is still waiting for her forever home. :( Missy is Precious' adorable little daughter - Missy is a malti-poo. She is 7 y/o and weighs 6# - she is being fostered in The Villages, FL. Missy is so deserving of her very own home; it has been decided that Missy can be adopted into a home by herself, and doesn't need to be adopted with Precious. She isn't any trouble at all, sleeps all night long, and gets along with the other dogs in the home. Please consider adopting this little princess.

UPDATED BIO 07-31-08: Precious & Missy are two adorable little yorkie 'wannabe's' that are still waiting for their forever home. Precious is a miniature parti-colored poodle who is 10 y/o and weighs 5#. Missy is her adorable little daughter, who is a malti-poo; she is 7 y/o and weighs 6#. These little girls love to lie in the sunshine outdoors and will let you know when they need to go out. They're not any trouble at all, and deserve to have their own forever home where they can be little princesses.

UPDATED BIO 06-28-08: Precious & Missy are two adorable little yorkie 'wannabe's' that are still waiting for their forever home. Precious is a miniature parti-colored poodle who is 10 y/o and weighs 5#. Missy is her adorable little daughter, who is a malti-poo; she is 7 y/o and weighs 6#. Precious and Missy have been together all their lives....and they deserve a home where they can be placed together. These little girlies are playful and are well-mannered. They will let you know when they need to go outside - aren't they smart? Missy is more reserved and timid; but Precious is a lapbaby indeed!

UPDATED BIO 05-05-08: Precious & Missy are two adorable little 'yorkie wannabe's' that are so ready for their forever home! Precious is a miniature parti-colored poodle who is 10 y/o and weighs 6#. Missy is her adorable little daughter, who is a malti-poo; she is 7 y/o and weighs 6-1/2#. Precious and Missy have been together all their lives....and they deserve a home where they can be placed together. They are very, very sweet little girlies who have the best personalities. They are playful and always keep Foster Mom & Dad laughing. They have great manners and only bark if they think someone is 'creeping around' their yard - great watchdogs!

When these girlies had their dentals, little Precious lost all her remaining teeth, which were horribly rotted. The rotting bottom teeth were so badly infected that they had actually begun rotting away her bottom jaw - so sad! But to be sure, she can eat just fine!

Missy was ony left with a few teeth, as her's were also badly rotted; one on the top was so nasty that it had actually eaten a hole in her gums....isn't that pitiful?

They are both feeling much better now that those rotting teeth have been removed, and these little girlies will make someone loving companions. They are so ready to give and receive love. Do you have a tiny little spot in your home that they could call their own?

ORIGINAL BIO 03-23-08: Please meet Missy & Precious - daughter and mother! They are both yorkie wannabe's - Precious is a miniature poodle mix (she's the parti-colored princess) and Missy appears to be a malti-poo - apparently her daddy was a maltese. :) Precious is 10 y/o and weighs 6#; Missy is 7 y/o and weighs 6.5#. Precious and Missy were dumped at a high-kill shelter in South Florida after their owner died. The shelter was beyond capacity and was going to euthanize these beautiful little girls unless a rescue group pulled them immediately. Precious and Missy have always been together and it would be pawsome if they could be adopted together; they can ONLY be adopted into an adult-only household due to their size. They are both very sweet little girlies who are quiet and well-mannered and need a loving home where they can bring happiness and joy to their new forever owner. They both need dentals badly and may lose a lot of teeth, but this certainly doesn't deter them from eating! Do you have room in your home and heart for these special little girlies? The family who adopts Precious and Missy will be very blessed by the love they have to share with you.
