My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LOU! He is around 5 years old. He is a special little guy! Here is his story: He was living on the streets of Houston for at least a year- animal control and multiple people tried catching him with no luck. Somehow an officer finally caught him and he was taken to a high kill shelter. There they discovered his paw had been severed and had an injury to one eye. Once we saw him there we immediately took him to our vets office. He did immediate blood work and discovered he was severely anemic, his paw was dangling from an old injury/severed, heartworm positive and that his eye had melted from most likely an old ulcer. Even with all of that, he was such a loving and sweet dog.

He needed that front leg amputated *but* we had to get him healthy first. It took a few weeks of TLC and medication to get his blood work normal. Finally he was ready for the amputation and neuter. He recovered well and already knew how to walk on 3 legs as he wasn't able to put weight on it with the injury. After 2 weeks he began heartworm treatment and FINALLY after having him months and getting him ready, he is READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME!!!

He is good with other dogs and cats, is laid back, enjoys short walks and a BED. All he wants in life is a comfy bed to curl up in and take a nap or cuddle with you! He can he a little shy at first and will roll over if he is nervous.
