Cuan (KO-awn) is a very handsome, sweet, affectionate 2-year-old Bluetick Coonhound. Cuan had spent nearly two months in a shelter before coming to Puppy Porch. His time may have been running out, but the staff was in LOVE with him and didn’t give up until a foster spot was found for him. Once in foster care, it didn’t take long for his foster family to fall in love too!
We know that Cuan’s name is a bit unusual, but it is an Irish name that means “Hound.” Cuan is definitely that! He has big floppy lips and ears that give him a comical appearance, a nose that he will follow to the end of the earth, and an unflappable outlook on life. Cuan loves people and seems to like other dogs who will play with him. He also seems to really like kids, but he doesn’t really that he cannot wrestle with him like he does other dogs. Cuan knows how to walk on a head collar (Gentle Leader, Comfort Leader, or Halti). (He has a wonderful pace that is perfect for his middle-aged foster mom!)
Like most coonhounds, Cuan is going to need a home where he can get plenty of exercise. A home with a fenced yard and a canine companion to play with or one looking for a partner for leisurely walks would be perfect! His new family will also need to be committed to making sure that his hound nose doesn’t get him into any trouble! Like many cooners, Cuan will need to have his ears cleaned on a regular basis.
