JAX (NORTH CAROLINA)
Jax is a 6 year old, 7 pound Yorkie being fostered in Winston-Salem, NC.
Sweet little blind boy JAX has caused an avalanche of inquiries since his arrival. Not sure if it’s because of that stylish shirt he’s wearing or he is just so darn cute! We think it might be the latter. With all of your well wishes and questions, foster mom felt you deserved an update on this little bundle of yorkie love. Being blind is a challenge in a new environment but Jax is adapting very well at his foster home. He has learned how to get in and out the door without assistance. He roams freely in the fenced back yard stopping only to go potty on the trees and finds his way back to the back porch, then up the step and into the sunroom to arrive from here to back again. He is maneuvering throughout the pup area of sun room, den and kitchen without too many missteps and has found all the comfortable little dog beds and big fluffy pillows for him to rest on. He loves his little nylabone that he has been given to occupy his time. He enjoys meal time and knows exactly when foster mom comes home and is first at the gate calming dibs on first hug. We do not know why sweet Jax is blind so we have him scheduled to be evaluated by the NC State Veterinary Ophthalmology clinic on Thursday, 6/21. He will
have a Retinal ultrasound and a full ophthalmology exam. His formerly blind foster brother Roscoe is going along to show him the ropes! Jax evaluation will cost about $400.
