My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue is looking for a furever family for this amazing Dane!
ADOPTION PENDING...
Hello! My name is Khryxis. Pronounced crick-sus.

I'm a three year old black, Great Dane with white markings. I'm a pretty good looking pup and I love to play and have fun! I'm a big boy, but I want to sit in your lap and I want lots of loves, cuddles, snuggles and scratches.

My first family wanted me to have a fur-ever family that is home more often and can spend more time training me and playing with me. I love humans so I'm pretty happy at my foster home for now and I enjoy meeting new people! I'm okay with sleeping in a kennel for a bit while you are out running errands, but I'm really happy when I can come out. I'm learning to wake up my foster dad when I need to potty at night, but I sometimes do have accidents if I get lost in a dream and forget. I do need supervision while I maximize my young adult skills. I did chew on a couch pillow and I think socks are delicious. My foster parents make sure to keep the house picked up and are trusting me for longer and longer periods of time unattended in the house. They tell me I'm smart and they know I really want to please them. I'll catch on, just give me some time.

I love my foster sister and I've met another female dog while at my foster home. I really like the ladies! My foster home doesn't have a male dog I can meet, but my first family says I was good with dogs of all kinds. There is a cat in my foster home. I tried to play with him and chase him a bit. He barked very strangely at me a few times and scratched my nose. He was fun to play with for a while, but now I don't pay much attention to him.

I came to my foster family with very poor leash skills. They have been using a gentle leader on me occasionally and I'm darn near a professional human walker now. I notice other dogs, but hold my composure well. I walk at a nice pace so my people don't get tired too quickly.

Foster mom says I need to be careful about food aggression. I growled at my foster sister once while we where watching mom cook. Also one time someone gave me a really delicious bone. It was so tasty that I didn't want it taken away from me. This is an area I need to improve upon and for now I should probably be fed without other dogs around. Foster mom is feeding me special treats from her hands while she asks me to "sit", "down" and "stay". I've got sit down pat!

I do like the furniture and I like to sleep snuggled up with my human. You certainly can tell me to get "off" and I will, I really love that game! I jump on the couch and look out the window at all the beautiful things then I'm told off. I get off. Then I zoom around and get back on the couch to look out the window. Repeat until I'm ready to snuggle with foster dad on the floor. Snuggling always gets me to nap.I really enjoy snuggle naps. Sometimes I like to nap in my kennel by myself also. I can be independent, but I'm usually with my foster human.

There is lots more to share about how awesome I am. If you like what you know so far you should complete an adoption application. Perhaps you are my perfect furever home?
