Derry is a 10-yr-old English Setter mix who has a sweet, loving personality. While she does need daily hormone treatment for a thyroid condition, she’s otherwise healthy, happy, and energetic.
This rescue dog from South Carolina attaches very easily to new people, and really likes her people and / or fellow four-legged family members — both dogs and cats — to be home with her for a fair amount of time. She gets a little anxious if she’s left home all alone and picks up and moves her people’s shoes and slippers to keep them close to her.
This 47 lb. dog’s housebreaking is completely reliable, and she is crate-trained.
Derry has a very high level of energy and a strong need to run. She has managed to escape several times from her foster home’s fenced backyard or when someone left a door open too long. If not on leash, she is likely to take off for a good long unauthorized cross-country run.
Preferred home: In a country setting where she’d have some safe running room – might be very good with older children to run and play with – or with a family that has active runners – she would love to be a running companion!
