Piper and Sprout are a young mom and daughter looking for a family to love them. Sprout, who is brown and white, was born in the Rescue in early February. Piper is a beautiful orange and white Abyssinian who is about 5 months old. Piper and three relatives were taken to a local shelter because there were too many animals in the home. All of the piggies were unsocialized and terrified. They had mild cases of ringworm and all were missing big chunks of their ears, both indicators of the terrible conditions they endured.
Piper delivered two healthy babies shortly after settling in at her foster home. Although she is very young, she has been an attentive mother. Her babies have been helping her become more socialized but she is still very scared of people. She needs a calm adoptive home with someone who will be patient and understand that it will take time for her to blossom. She does interact with people and wheeks extremely loudly for her breakfast and snacks.
Sprout is an energetic little girl who is curious and always on the go! As with all youngsters, she is not one to sit still on your lap for too long, but she is adorable sweetheart who will mature into a wonderful adult guinea pig.
Piper and Sprout have an excellent appetite and enjoy fresh vegetables, piles of hay and Oxbow pellets every day (Both piggies need Young Guinea Pig pellets until they are about 6 months old). The pair will need to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes and be in a family part of the house so everyone can enjoy their company. We also ask that anyone adopting them lives a reasonable driving distance from Rockville, MD.
The adoption fee for Piper and Sprout will be $70 as they are both intact females. If you are interested in finding out more about adopting this sweet pair of guinea pigs, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org.
