My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She's adorable, she's small, she likes to get her own way and is irresistible enough to get away with it!! Sound like a typical spoiled Shih Tzu? Well, that is exactly what Metambo is. Eleven pounds of playful fun, twinkling eyes and a soft non-shedding high maintenance black and white coat. We don't know her age but guess she was born sometime in 2013; still a youngster but without the puppy behavior and adolescent attitude. Metambo arrived at the Safehouse on 05/04/2017; she was brought in as a stray so we have no history. A happy playful little girl, with a charming precocious curiosity, she prefers being where the action is. Metambo is adept at climbing, jumping, acrobatic leaping and flinging herself about. She appears to be house trained but here at the Safehouse she has access a doggy door to “potty outside” so would need time to adjust to your household and schedule. Metambo enjoys interacting with people especially if there are treats involved!! She likes toys, treats and exploring the back yard; loves to chase and wrestle with the other dogs here at the Safehouse and would enjoy sharing a home with another small friendly dog, but can display great ferocity in play. We don’t know about cats. Metambo loves children but with her small size she could easily be injured by very young children and will be safer in an adult home or one with older children who can understand her need for gentle handling and would provide companionship without overwhelming her. Metambo is healthy, spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and she has had a complete physical and dental. Her adoption fee is $350.
