Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
“My name is EARL” ..... This sweet gentle boy was abandoned by being tied to the outside of a veterinary clinic at night. Earl, as we have named him, was likely left outside most of the day with little affection. He has pressure sores and skin issues because he probably slept on hard surfaces or outdoors. Luckily they are now healing nicely and his fur is growing back. For several days, Earl was extremely depressed and reluctant to receive human affection and attention. We actually thought his tail was broken since it rarely moved and never wagged. Earl just seemed sad.
3 weeks later and Earl is a different dog. He has done so well with a daily routine and walks that he not only wags his tail when he sees us, but he has lots to say with his humorous barking.. as if to say..” take me for my walk!” Earl is about 6 years old and is a very mellow boy. Once he trusts you, he follows you everywhere. He has thrived on a daily routine. He is learning that petting and grooming is a really nice thing. Earl's ultimate home would be a quiet one where he could hang outside, in a sunny yard, and roll around in the grass. He seems to be used to the outdoors, but is slowly becoming more comfortable inside as long as someone is with him. Earl will definitely bond quickly with whomever shows him gentle affection and truly cares about him. Earl is great with other dogs and is very tolerant towards them. He is wonderful when he is given a bath and has his ears cleaned. He is the calm gentle-giant type... or “Eeyore” comes to mind.
Earl is truly a special dog that deserves someone who will show him what a loving home truly should be. Please contact us at Animalcontrol@westhartfordCT.gov for more information
