My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Michelle is an adorable 4 year old 7.5 lb Yorkie mix; she is being fostered in Dunedin, FL. Michelle's adoption fee is $450 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Beanie Baby by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

UPDATED BIO 05/14/2017: Michelle has seen the vet for her well-dog check and had a great report. She is both heartworm & fecal-negative – hooray! She is scheduled for her dental on 05/17 so she will soon have pearly white teeth. Foster Mom & Dad have both fallen in love with this cutie-pie. Michelle is so grateful to feel safe and secure that she is giving lots of wonderful kisses. She also loves to be held and to sit on her human’s lap. She bonds with her human almost immediately and doesn’t want to be away from them for very long. Michelle is pee-pee-pad trained, but may mistake a rug for a potty pad, so if you have any expensive rugs in your house, you may want to roll them up and put in the garage.

Michelle has a very sweet disposition and is a happy little girlie. She has never seen a cat before, and as far as she is concerned, wouldn’t mind never seeing one again. She barks at the resident cat and sometimes chases him, but has not tried to hurt him. She gets along okay with other dogs and tolerates their presence, but would prefer to be an only dog. She has never been around children, but can only be adopted into a home with children older than 12 years old due to her small size.

Michelle likes to show everyone that she has a loud bark, and has a tendency to bark at unknown noises. Because of this, her perfect home would be a single-family home so that her bark won’t disturb the neighbors. Her foster parents are working with her on proper puppy manners and teaching her when it’s appropriate to bark – and when it’s not. She has also let her foster parents know that she gets stressed when riding in a car (in a crate for safe travel). It is unknown how she would do on a long trip, so if you love to travel, it may be a good idea to take her on short trips prior to one long trip. She really wants to please her human, so she should learn quickly that travelling can be a grand adventure.

If you are interested in this little princess, adoption applications are being taken now, but she will not be available for adoption until after she heals from her spay surgery around the first week of June.

Michelle has some things to say – so here goes: ”Could I be your girl?” If you are looking for a cute, smart, sweet, loving – did I mention cute? – little girl who will love her humans to the moon and back, then look no further. My Foster Mom is just getting to know all of my adorable ways (I can’t show them to her all at one time, you know?), but she says I’m going to be a great new family member to whoever is lucky enough to adopt me. Wait – did I say I was cute? Okay, my Foster Mom may be a little biased, but you have to admit, I am cute … there, I said it again.
