DUKE is 113 pounds of affection and smiles. This big boy is 2 years old or a little less. DUKE joined our rescue after his owner passed away. It is clear that his original owner cared for him and socialized him well. He was instantly comfortable in his foster home and loves to be where his foster family is. However, he has been so good when they are away that they leave him uncrated most of the time. DUKE is a social guy who enjoys going to hang with his buddies at doggie day care once a week or so. He also thoroughly enjoys car rides and all of life's adventures. That being said he isn't a hyper guy. He gets super excited for about 5 minutes when his foster family gets home or visitors come over. After that he is mellow and happy to just lounge around.
If you have small children, DUKE will think they are great. However, he will also inadvertently knock them over when he is trotting around.
Since DUKE is a big, strong young man he needs a confidant leader. Someone with specific breed experience or XL breed experience is REQUIRED! If this is you, then DUKE is your man. He is a happy, handsome, and fantastic guy!
DUKE is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of his transport after he is adopted.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).
Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.
Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
