Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rubie is a very special girl to our rescue. She was found by volunteers crossing Krome Avenue (a very busy main street) with a rope tied around her neck, dragging a few feet of it behind her. She was immediately friendly and hopped right into our car. A trip to the vet revealed she did not have a microchip. She was missing a lot of fur and was diagnosed with two (noncontagious) skin conditions. With medicated baths and oral medication, she is almost back to perfect! The rope tied around her neck had caused an abrasion, which is also healing up well. She is a sweet and quiet girl, who will hang out with you on the couch all day. We never know the whole story about where some of the stray dogs come from, but Rubie has turned out to be quite a gem. She is very attached to her foster family. We know that when the right adopter comes along, Rubie will fit in with their family just as well. If you are looking for a dog who has a real rescue story and a dog who triumphed over her past, Rubie is the dog for you.

Thank you! This is the Dog! does not have a shelter. Our dogs are in foster homes primarily in Homestead, FL. We are a small group of volunteers. It is worth the drive South from Miami or North from the Keys to find your canine companion. This Is The Dog! for you!
