~TIMBER
7-The number of months Timber has been at Tahoe Husky Rescue.
16-The number of dogs that have been adopted out since Timber arrived at THR.
0-The number of applications submitted for him☹️
We cannot tell you how proud we are to have Timber at our rescue. He has come SO FAR in the 7 months that he's been here! Timber was born in the wild and was feral the first part of his life running with his "pack" in Tonopah, NV. He has had his whole world flipped upside down and everything he's ever known was taken from him, including his family, many of which did not make it and the few that did have found a new home and family.
So EVERYTHING is new to him, especially trusting people. Timber needs a home where someone will be willing to put in the time it takes to gain his TRUST. The patience to understand that you may not get a best friend right away that loves to cuddle with you or seeks human affection right off the bat. What we can tell you is that you will get an incredibly happy dog, whose tail is always wagging and who vocalizes his love and appreciation for you. You'll get a guy who LOVES food and will gently take treats from your hand. You'll have a dog that you can take for walks/hikes on leash and who loves the outdoors tremendously. Someone to explore the wilderness with cuz it reminds him of home. This won't be easy and we'll be the first to tell you that it won't, but the continuing reward of watching him grow, build his confidence and gain trust will be worth your time and effort. If you feel a special bond with this guy and want to give him your world, please contact us and complete our online application. Timber is about a year and a half old husky/shepherd mix who is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchpped. He has never been around cats or kids so we ask that you keep this in mind if interested in him. Until he becomes comfortable with adults it's probably best that he goes to a home without kids or much older ones. He does amazing in a crate and will get in voluntarily to sleep at night or if the weather is bad outside. Considering his story, he listens fairly well. He is allowed in the backyard with the other dogs and will come inside when you call him. He doesn't fully understand that marking in the house is a no-no but he is truly making strides with this everyday and the marking is less and less. His adoption fee is $200 SERIOUS INQUIRES ONLY! He will need someone who is dedicated to his social and well-being so we ask for experienced adopters for this guy. Timber's rehabilitation is a year, if not more, of a process and adopting him is a life long commitment. A home check is required so we are looking to place hime more so in the Northern California/Nevada areas. Thank you.
