Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Peanut is a 6 year old Red Heeler. He has adapted very well to being deaf as that is the only thing he has ever known. His dad has had him since he was a pup and uses very basic hand signals for Peanut. He is an excellent "listener". He has great manners and is sweet and loving. Although Peanut is a Heeler, he prefers to "heel" by lying on the front porch, going for walks, car rides, and really anywhere you are! He just isn't into the herding thing. He is extremely tuned in to his people and responds to signals immediately. Peanut has been his Dad's constant companion.
As the family has grown, Peanut does not respond well to the commotion of young children playing and the quick movements they make. He does leave the situation when overwhelmed. He also has not taken kindly to the litter of pups that have been in the home this spring. The pups have heightened his awareness of unexpected movements and his Dad believes he would be happier with a more sedate predictable situation. Although it's very difficult to give up "the best dog he has ever had" he knows it will be better for the family and Peanut.
Peanut is about 40 lbs (needs to loose a little) loves people and other adult dogs. He will need a fenced yard to keep him safe and a loving home which he is accustomed to having. His adoption fee is $125.
