Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID
KC is a four-year-old Cattle Dog/Basenji/Chihuahua (best guess). He was one of 23 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Owyhee County by a local shelter. KC was one of the most scared of the bunch; the shelter knew that he needed out so Fuzzy Pawz offered to place KC in one of our foster homes.
KC has been in a foster home for about 6 weeks learning how to be a dog and to trust. He is making steady progress but will need a very special home to continue his journey. KC is fearful but doesn’t bite or snap. He flights and hides when he is uncomfortable, so slow and calm handling is a must. KC is scared of loud noises and will bolt to escape the noise.
He is scared of most new people but does seem to be more comfortable with women rather than men; he will get used to a man but it takes more time. KC needs a home where his humans are very anxiety-aware and have an abundance of patience. He needs a consistent and safe environment that can let his true loyal and cuddly personality shine. KC will likely take weeks to become comfortable in his new home, so a crate that's his "safe space" is a must. He is affectionate when he feels secure, and will hang out next to you on the couch or in the backyard helping with gardening. Give him some time and we feel he will become your best little buddy.
KC lives with three other dogs and 4 cats in his foster home, and they have him helped tremendously. A home with a happy-go-lucky, confident dog(s) is a must. He loves to chase and snuggle with his canine buddies; they will help him learn to trust and be more confident.
KC will need to be on leash until he is used to any new environment; this includes in his new homes yard/indoors. He needs a secure yard, should never be left alone outside and requires constant supervision until he is settled. He is most comfortable in his crate when left alone inside, so his new owners should continue his crate training. KC doesn’t know any commands at this time and we are working on his leash skills but he is 100% house trained!
KC will bond to his new family given a bit of time but will need a home with no children (under 15) and someone willing and able to give him the time and reassurance he needs. You won’t be sorry love, patience and gentle guidance and the sky is the limit for this lovely boy.
KC is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
His adoption fee is $50.00.
