My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pokie is an 8 year old neutered chocolate male lab who weighs 61 pounds. He is up to date on his shots and is good with kids 10 and up. Let him tell his own story.

Hi, I’m Pokie. Let’s be up front about things – I’m diabetic (strike 1) and I don’t see very well (strike 2). But I’m still swinging for the fences (because my yard should have a fence) and I’m gonna hit a forever home run!

A couple of insulin shots a day (with a treat chaser) and a few days in my foster home to figure the lay of the land (and where the toys are) and I’m good to go. I love my toys (my babies!) and take them everywhere with me, even to potty, (okay, the word obsessed has been tossed around). I’ll play with them, I’ll play with you, and I’ll play with your dog if he/she is a chill kind of dog. I’m housetrained, have free run of the house, and can even do steps as long as I know where they are. My hobbies include eating, getting belly rubs, and did I mention playing with my babies? But I’d be even happier playing (or just being) with my forever owner. How about giving me a shot (I am so punny!)?

UPDATE: Pokie has been patiently waiting for his forever family. This 8 year old boy is such a character. He lives for toys, humans and of course food. Pokie is partially blind from diabetes complications, but evidently no one let him know he has a handicap. Pokie runs up and down the stairs and loves to run around in the yard. Pokie is quiet and has great house manners. No kitties. Lots of love and toys are a must!
