Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Star is a sweet, black and tan, female German Shepherd Dog. She is approximately 7 years old and weighs around 75-80 pounds. She has a low-moderate energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. She is good with kids, other dogs and cats.
MTGSR pulled her from Nashville Metro Animal Care and Control and she tested positive for heartworms when we took her into our program. She has received Immiticide injections, has completed her treatment period and is now available for adoption.
She also had severe ear infections and it has taken a few months of antibiotics and special ear treatments to get them healthy again. We have worked diligently to avoid a potential ear surgery that is both a complicated and painful procedure.
Her ears are now healthy and she should be fine with routine cleanings with an over-the-counter cleaning solution.

ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog and the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program.
Star's total adoption cost is $250 which includes the $125 adoption fee (reduced senior dog adoption fee) and a reduced training fee of $125 due at the time of adoption.
For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.
The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.
