Here's what the humans have to say about me:
He'szzzzz back! Mr. Handsome here was in our program mid summer. He was adopted by a single mom and her young son last July. Oh what a match it has been, but there is one thing that Rocco needs that this cute little family cannot provide, a dog brother or sister.
You see, in Rocco's first family he had a doggie sister and kittie sister. He was so happy and content but when the family had their 3rd child, that child, after a few years could no longer live with the welps and breathing issues he was having because of all the pets, so we ReHomed each one, separately and they are all doing well. Rocco does currently have a kittie sister and they love each other greatly, but Callie doesn't always want to play like he does and for the same amount of energetic length that Rocco can go. Eighty-five percent of the time Rocco can go with his humans to work, stores, drop offs at school, etc. His mom has trained him very, very well. It wouldn't take much at all to qualify him as a companion dog. But...
Here is the issue. Leave Rocco alone in a home (two different friends homes that have a dog) and Rocco and other dogs do fantastically. Leave Rocco alone in his own house and he flips out. He cannot be crated when alone (he will do whatever it takes, even if blood must be shed, to get out of that crate). He will potty in the house and his urine is excessive. But, if he is in a room with his mom and if he stays off of her bed, he does great. If he gets on her bed, it is war. Rocco will HOG the bed and will stretch and push and knock into you, all while sleeping, and leave bruises. His mom has a bad foot injury so having him in the bedroom has become more difficult. In the son's room is the cat, which needs a dang break so that leaves the living room. Alone, he leaves a lake if you don't get up several times to let him out. Again, NO issues and well potty trained when he is with his humans. Separation anxiety, UNLESS he can be placed in a home with another dog that loves to play. Rocco will literally light up when he meets new dogs and will pout when he has to leave them.
