Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Rebel Age: 7 years 9 months (May 2009) Breed: Border Collie Energy Level: Medium Looking for a mellowed out border collie? Then Rebel is your guy! This boy came from a breeder in KY who became a bit of a hoarder and neglected the dogs in her care. Rebel came to us with extremely bad teeth, worms and a collapsed ear. He has been fully vetted and is healthy and ready to rock! Rebel requires a fenced in yard, preferably a privacy fence as he likes to hop small ones! He will go on a neighborhood stroll on his own if he is left in a small fence on his own. Rebel does well with most dogs. He prefers the company of female dogs and would do best with a doggy sister in the home. He does fine interacting with male dogs that are submissive or friendly. Rebel has gone to the dog parks but probably isn’t a good candidate for them as he tends to find the fastest dog and strongly herd them. In small doggy settings, he's an angel and doesn't bother anyone. He doesn't care about cats and will do fine with a dog savvy one. Rebel is a big cuddle bug and loves to spend time with his people. He likes to go on walks and hikes but isn’t the type of dog that needs a very long one! In fact, he prefers maybe a mile or two and then its back to the inside of the house for him! As far as potty training, we don’t think he was potty trained at all beforehand as he was kept outside. He won't pee/poo in a crate but take him out instantly once you release him. Though he is potty trained in his foster home, we suggest crating him and taking him out instantly in his new home until he learns the ropes. As far as training, he knows his basic commands and responds to his name well when being called after. He will come right back to his person but sometimes ignores a new person! He just needs some food and fun reinforcement in his new home before he will be a perfect listener. Rebel is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm/parasite free. He is available for adoption in Richmond, VA to approved adopters. Apply online at www.easternherdingdogrescue.org/adopt/
