Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Miss Stella is a special girl and she needs a special family. After DNA testing we found that Stella is so low to the ground with a wider chest is because she has english bulldog dna as well as staffordshire bully. Stella was used as a breeding dog, caged and breed before being dumped at a kill shelter in CA. at less then 2 years old she has spent most of her life in a cage and giving birth so her "owners" could make money. EVEN with a crappy start she was still so loving and so happy to be in a home. She did not know how to play with toys, but she loved taking her tin dog food bowl, throwing into the air and chasing it. She will play with it for hours. She also loves to cuddle on the couch, she loves humans young or older. Once rescued she was moved to a trusted foster home in Washington. All was going well, Stella was learning to be a pet, playing with the resident dogs and chasing her tin bowl. We are unsure of the details, but the resident female dog attacked Stella and she was injured very badly. After two surgeries she is on the path to healing. She still has several weeks of recovery time for her hair to grow back and the cuts to fully heal, but her tail has not stopped wagging and her heart for humans is still huge. We are noticing she is fearful of other dogs now (who could blame her) so we are looking for an adopter or even a foster that does not currently have other animals. We are looking for a compassionate home that will help her heal and give her the security to trust again. We thought about what would be best for Stella keep her in vet care until completely healed, or start looking for her family now, so the bond and the trust can grow when she needs to trust humans the most. She is no longer in need of any medical attention, just follow up appointments that we will pay for. We do believe this recent trauma has set her back and she will need professional training so she can learn to trust dogs again. We have trainers we work with and can facilitate dog training. Stella has been through so much in her young life, yet still has a heart full of love and wants a family that will give her the security, understanding and love she needs to over come her past and recent attack. If you are that special family, please let us know.
