My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a female guinea pig who is looking for her forever home. Her name is Nessie, and she came to the rescue a few months ago. She originally came in with her boyfriend and two kids, as a transfer from a shelter up in Wisconsin. The kids (baby guinea pigs) have since found homes, and the boyfriend did after that as well, but Nessie is still here! Granted, she had to be here longer because we had her on pregnancy watch, but now that we know she’s not pregnant and she’s clear to go, she’s ready to find a home of her own!
Nessie is an American crested guinea pig. She is mostly white, with some beige coloring on both sides of her face. She has one pink ear and one dark ear, we think it gives her a very cute, unique look!
Nessie is your typical guinea pig. She does just fine with being handled and petted, but is skittish when you go to pick her up. She likes having a nice secure place to hide, so we’d recommend that her new home have an igloo or another hiding place for her. She just loves her hay and munches it down so quick! And of course, she loves her veggies and food, just needs a little more personal one-on-one attention to not be so skittish around people. She’s a very sweet girl and would thrive with some personal, one-on-one attention. She does fine with nail trims and she has never bitten.
While Nessie is currently housed alone, she was housed with other guinea pigs in the past, and she did just fine with them. So there is a possibility that she could be paired up with another guinea pig.
We have down that Nessie was born on 1/22/2016, so she’s currently right around 1 year old! – nice and young, good age to bring her into your family!
This guinea pig will come with some food to start you out with (2 pounds of Oxbow Cavy Cuisine) and a printed out version of our guinea pig care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale, such as Oxbow guinea pig food, cages, food, food bowls, water bottles, hidey houses / igloos, and more.
Regardless of past guinea pig experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our guinea pig care packet and fill out our adoption application/guinea pig questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No guinea pig will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
This guinea pig is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).
The adoption fee for Nessie is $25
