Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shadow is an 11 year old female Lab mix, weighing 55-60lbs, who came to us when her owner passed away.
Shadow is pretty mellow, as most her age are, and enjoys slumbering around the house and sniffing around the backyard. We have started her on some joint medications to see if that helps her stiffness out. She does have some issues on hard floors and prefers carpets and rugs to slippery tile or hardwood. She does half flights of stairs pretty well and goes up and down the deck stairs without issue as well.
Since being in foster care, Shadow has done well with all of the other dogs she's been introduced to, ranging in age from 1 year to 12 years, both males and females. She was raised with cats and has not had any issues with the cats in her foster home.
Her ideal home would be quiet, without a lot of stairs, where she could relax for the rest of her years. It has taken her a couple of weeks to come out of her shell, so I would expect that she would have another adjustment period once adopted.
She is currently crated at night and when we aren't home, but we believe she'd do just fine if confined to a room or two in a home.
She initially had very poor dental health, so we had her teeth cleaned and a rotten tooth removed. She does have a grade 4 heart murmur, so we did a full blood workup, xrays of her chest and an EKG prior to anesthesia. Other than the heart murmur and some joint stiffness, she is very healthy. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative, microchipped and heartworm negative.
We are including Shadow in our Senior To Senior adoption program where we will waive her adoption fee to any adopter over the age of 60. Our adoption process (including $25 application fee, application, home visit) is still required, as are the rest of our adoption requirements (heartworm prevention, veterinary care, etc).
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting any dogs in our care, please visit www.3clr.org/adoption-process to read through our requirements and download the application.
ADOPTION FEES:
SENIOR: $250, which includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, up-to-date monthly heartworm preventative, negative heartworm test and microchip with lifetime enrollment.
