Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lil' boy is an adult dog who still has a puppy face, albeit it's a bit gray now. He is sure to melt your heart. He gives lots of kisses and loves tummy rubs. He does not like to be picked up and does not like car rides. He is a nervous, but sweet, dog who requires an adult home where someone active (and able to respond quickly to emergencies) will be with him at all times.
Interactions with cats: Initially, he attacked our cats but our cats are very used to dogs and gently taught him to behave. He should not be around cats who aren't accustomed to pesky dogs. He can only be homed to an place with a cat if the cat will refrain from attacking a dog. He is too small to risk putting him with an intolerant cat.
Lil Boy was (and can still be) very reactive to kids, skateboards bicycles, dogs and sometimes adults (especially men). He also took a very long time to housebreak and occasionally will lift his leg indoors but if he's encouraged to go out and potty every few hours, he doesn't have accidents.
Lil boy seems to have some form of seizure disorder. Twice the condition came on with what appearted to be extreme pain, a seizure-type event and then paralysis. Because we don't know the cause or what risks this condition carries, we feel he should not be left alone much, if at all. Lil boy was treated for ringworm and improved, but he still has some skin issues which require him to be bathed weekly. He will need to be on a strict, raw diet in order to help keep his immune system in balance. With the variability in his symptoms, he seems to have an overactive immune system in some regards and weakened immune system at the same time. He should not be vaccinated (or given cytopoint) again. Regular titer testing will be necessary to ensure he has maintained immunity to the rabies virus.
This little bundle of love will need an experienced owner due to his health concerns and resource-guarding tendencies. We do not want to stress him with yet another temporary home, so we are asking that only experienced, dedicated adopters apply.
Lil Boy is insured and the policy must remain in effect for life. Because Lil boy cannot be vaccinated, he cannot go to most groomers and boarding kennels. We will be happy to board him here. We also could provide daycare since he's become a part of the family and the pack won't be the same without him.
If you have already prepared a bio on yourself as a pet adopter, please email us with a copy of this and we will let you know if Lil Boy is a good match for you.
Thanks for rescuing!
