Diesel is a very sweet 35 pound, 6 month old mixed breed dog (we think maybe some spaniel, rott or shepherd but most likely an “Iowa Special”) that came to rescue because the family that owned him did not have time to properly train a puppy. He was a Christmas gift.
Diesel’s first owners did care for him, but they didn’t know how to properly house train a puppy or handle a puppy. He has made leaps and bounds at his foster home with positive reinforcement, crate training and other dogs to help keep the “pressure” off being the center of attention. Diesel is absolutely excellent with children, cats and other dogs. He really should go to a home with a confident, social dog to help learn the norms and someone who is patient and kind enough to give him time to really shine. He is great off leash at the park and loves hiking and playing with other dogs. He is quiet and loves carrying around stuffed toys.
Diesel is very sweet and incredibly smart. He is food driven which has made changing his behavior from being shy to being confident much easier. Diesel will definitely need to continue to puppy class, continue crate training and positive reinforcement based training. He will shut down if you yell or scold.

He is fully vetted, microchipped, neutered and started on both flea/tick medications and HW pills.
