Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We rescued Baxter (but his foster is calling him Tater Tot or just Tater) last Friday, Feb. 10th, from doggy death row! He's had a tough go of things and was found as a stray or lost dog in mid-Jan. out by the Sacramento International Airport.
After his stray hold was up at the shelter and nobody came looking for him, he was evaluated by shelter staff and passed his behavior exams with flying colors! He was quickly adopted directly from the shelter, as he is truly DARLING (he is approx. 9 lbs. and 2 years old and we think a purebred Min Pin or Miniature Pinscher) but something happened and he was returned to the county shelter. He's been in/out of three foster homes, the shelter twice and another two homes -- and all of this in less than a month!!!
That is A LOT for such a tiny dog to have gone through, so what's needed next for the Tater, is someone who can spend a lot of time devoted to him and acclimating him in his new environment and surroundings; someone willing to go slow and at Tater's own pace and not force introductions to new people (he does NOT like to be picked up, for instance), yet he LOVES to play and go out for walks to sniff all around! He also appears to be 100% house-trained (but no guarantees!) and he relishes long rubs or massages at the end of the day and to snuggle and burrow under blankets! He is a blanket addict! And a real play-hound!
He does have some other quirks too, and because of those (including using his mouth like a hand and wanting to play tug a war) we are seeking a child-free, forever home for him.
If you have any interest in meeting Baxter the beloved little Tater Tot this weekend, please email us at shpssac@yahoo.com and we'll reply with our Dog Adoption Application or text us or call us and leave us your email address and we'll send one right over to you! PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT GO TO OUR ADOPTION CENTER AT NIMBUS WINERY EXPECTING TO MEET BAX! ALL OUR DOGS ARE KEPT IN PRIVATE PARTY FOSTER HOMES! IN THIS CASE, BAXTER IS LOCATED IN EL DORADO HILLS!
