Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Nala! She is a gorgeous long hair Beauty. She was born around October 17, 2016 and arrived to us when she was about 8 weeks old from a very overcrowded shelter in Kentucky. She has been waiting for her forever family for a long time and is hoping someone will come for her. She's a very sweet cat who doesn't like a lot of noise so no children under 16, and she would prefer to be an only pet.
Nala enjoys belly rubs and will roll over when you start to pet her. She can be aloof at times, but we have found she does very well in a quiet home and will rub up against you for pets. Once we put Nala in a new foster home with no children or other pets, Nala now will come out and let visitors pet her and sits with her foster mom. It did take Nala a good month to adjust at her new foster home because she was scared of her new surroundings. She is thriving in a quiet home and would do best in a home with no children, and we feel if children are in the plans for the future, she isn't the right match for you because she will not do well with them. A home with no other pets would be best for her. She would be great with an empty nester, a family who's children are grown or retired person who would enjoy some company.
Nala likes to talk and will meow at you and if you are standing she will come right up to you and rub against you. She is a good girl, has always used her kitty box. Please give this girl a chance, she would really love a family of her own and can be a very loving girl. Nala is being fostered in a Carol Stream, Illinois home which is where you would go to meet this beauty!
Back in early June of 2018 Nala suddenly stopped eating and got sick (after she stopped eating). As a result her liver values went up which caused her to become jaundice. The vets ran every test and nothing was medically wrong. They said sometimes, for whatever reason, when a cat stops eating it affects the liver and they have a hard time recovering if they don't begin eating again quickly. For some cats this can happen over weeks or months and for others it can happen in days. For Nala she stopped eating and a few days later was in the hospital. It happened very quickly. Since we couldn't get her to eat on her own the vets surgically inserted a feeding tube. What happens is the liver needs the food in order to reverse the effects. It worked. In two weeks she was eating on her own. It's really a mystery as to why it happened since there is nothing medically wrong with her. We did x-rays, ultra sound, we even biopsied the liver. All the tests were negative. Only thing the vet could find was in the blood work her liver value was off because she hadn't been eating. The vets have seen this happen to other cats and they can't explain way. The good news is Nala is healthy, eating great and acting like a princess.
To meet this sweet girl, please go to www.angelsonwheels.org, and click on the applications tab to complete the on-line adoption application.
Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but is required prior to making arrangements for a meet and greet as all of our animals are cared for in homes. We can't schedule meet and greets until the application is submitted and approved. We don't have a building so there are no viewing hours. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes by wonderful families who volunteer their time to save these precious souls. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
