My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ryder was picked up by Animal Control as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter. He had been attacked by an unknown animal (we suspect a coyote) and had large puncture wounds on his left side. Normally this would have been a death sentence in two regards. 1. The shelter he landed in is in a bankrupt community so proper vetting isn't the norm. 2. The shelter is understaffed and full. This sweet boy stood out. He was a "staff favorite". They went the extra mile for him and in turn saved his life. Volunteers networked him feverishly. They couldn't let him escape death from infection just to be put to sleep for overcrowding. I wanted to help him, but my rescue was also full. A dear friend stepped up and is fostering him until I have space. She reports he is just about the perfect dog. Potty trained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and he gets along with her other dogs. So much so he has free reign in her home. When I took him to the vet he was well behaved and the staff loved him there as well. He was a gentleman in the car too.He is all healed now, healthy, up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. He is ready to go! We can't imagine him not fitting into almost any situation.
