My story

Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

Charley is a spunky 8 year old dachshund mix. Her owner surrendered Charley to us due to stressful financial circumstances. She is an adorable girl who is leash broken, house trained, and crate trained. She does great with kids, and dogs, but she is NOT cat friendly. She is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Pet Express transport services upon adoption. Her adoption fee is $400 and includes spay, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, and transport costs.

Second Chances lists dogs as being available in Kittery, ME because we transport our dogs to Kittery every other week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.
