My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello, my name is Klaatu’. I am named after the robot in “The Day the Earth Stood Still” although I am definitely *not* a robot. I came to Florida Parrot Rescue after my dad passed away and then was kept by my sister and her husband but they both worked and could not give the attention I need. I am 31 years old and my foster dad thinks I must be a girl because I like guys a little more than girls, although I will climb on anyone’s arm that comes close enough.
I love to talk and have a large vocabulary. I will say “Be right back” when you leave the room, “Good night” when I want to be covered and, after you cover me, I will tell you “Good night, see you in the morning”. When you are leaving I will tell you “Good Bye, See you later”. I have lots of other words and sayings. My foster family especially loves “Bad Bird, need to go to Church!” even though I really am not a bad bird. I love to hear everyone laugh and tell me “Good Bird” when I say it. I love to laugh and will join in the conversation whenever I can.
I will eat anything that has been put in front of me, I will ask for a “slice of apple” or a “piece of banana “ I also love broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts. I will shell an almond faster than you can hand it to me and I love all kinds of nuts (please remember that peanuts are really not nuts and are not good for me!!!). My foster family cannot believe how well I eat.
My foster dad took me to the vet and I was given a clean bill of health. However, she said that my wing muscles have atrophied because I have been in my cage and not out getting exercise. She said that I need to get exercise so my foster mom has been teaching me to dance and flap my wings. I really like that and hope that I will be able to build up my wing muscles to what they need to be.
I do not mind the two dogs at my foster home but I have not gotten close enough to them to see how they like me. You know you need to make sure we are never alone in the same area because they could hurt me very badly.
I am looking for a family that would allow me to walk around on the floor, follow them from room to room and talk to me a lot. I do like men a little more than women but I will gladly spend time with either one.
I just know I will make the perfect companion for a family willing to devote the time and attention to me that I deserve. Could this be you and your family? How about coming to meet me and let's find out? In the meantime, would you like to send me a gift from my Amazon Wish list? Here is the link:

I sure hope we get to spend time laughing together soon!
Hugs, Klaatu
