My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chubs is still a puppy at approximately 10 months – a year old. He is a sweet little dog that will make a great family pet. He would do well with obedience training as he is smart and picks things up quickly. He is a small dog currently weighing just 12 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Chubs is very loving, has a lot of energy and is very eager to please. He is very active and playful and will need walks and play time to tire him out. There are no issues or concerns regarding Chubs health, he has beautiful teeth, clean ears beautiful shiny coat, he has a healthy appetite and no problems going to the bathroom. Chubs is thin but that could be part of the breed. Chubs is little younger than we thought he would be, still very much in the puppy stage, learning things for the first time. Although he has that puppy energy he does enjoy relaxing and cuddling. I have not noticed any shedding yet but that could be due to his young age.

Chubs is shy at first but as long as he can smell you he warms up pretty fast. He has been around some children, and is friendly as long as he doesn’t feel cornered. He has shown no aggression in a negative way, he has growled or snarled when rough housing with the other dogs in our house. We have had no biting or fighting between the dogs. Even though me may be very shy when he first meets someone he doesn’t run away. He might back up a bit, but he is curious and wants to be friends. He has fit right in with our other dogs; he respected the space of our alpha male and he has followed behind him learning the daily schedule. He shares a bed with the other dogs and eats with them as well. He pulls a bit on the leash but with some slight training he will be a good walker.

Chubs will whine a bit when we first leave, he has chewed a newspaper that was left out but no other chewing, and has only had one accident in the house, he has learned to go to the door to go outside. He is a bit leery of loud noises at first but then becomes curious just as fast. He loves to run around as fast as he can outside and inside, he is learning to play with toys and he loves to sit on your lap. He has not barked very much; he has been pretty quiet so far, although when he does bark he has a very deep, hoarse voice. Quite funny coming out of such a small dog.

Chubs is a good listener and if he does something he is not suppose to he knows by giving him a sign of “uh uh” or “no”. He hasn’t stolen any food from tables or counters but given the chance he probably would. He now knows, sit, be nice, drop it, it’s ok, uh uh, no and sometimes stay. He is house trained and will go to the door to go out. We have not been crating him at all. He does not like to be crated.

Chubs walks fine on a leash, just pulls a bit. He hasn’t tried to escape yet but we have been very careful about the doors and backyard. I honestly don’t think he would go far as long as he is happy in the home. He is still a little nervous when riding in the car but not too bad.

Chubs is very lovable and will need some TLC for sure. He attaches to his people very quickly. I think a home with another dog would be really good for Chubs. I think a family with children would be okay as he is still a puppy and would grow nicely with the right family. He does have a lot of energy so a backyard or plenty of walks and trips to the dog park would be good. He is a very cute dog and would be very easy to train further. He also jumps very high.
