Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mikey is only 4 years old and weighs 7.5 pounds. He is being fostered in Orlando, FL.
UPDATED BIO 03/15/2017: Despite a rough start of being tied to a tree and abandoned at an apartment complex, Mikey is a bouncy, loving and funny boy who is ready for his forever home! He is a smart, comical love bug that loves nothing better than to spend time on the screened-in patio, either sunning himself or guarding the property. Because of that, a fenced backyard is a huge plus for his forever family to have.
Mikey’s other favorite pastimes are cuddling on his person's lap; sometimes on his back for tummy rubs, playing fetch and going for walks. He loves being close to his people and follows foster mom everywhere. He sleeps in bed and is the best cuddler. He loves his walks, although he is still leash-reactive but is getting better. “Leash-reactive” means that Mikey is on high alert when seeing another dog while walking and reacts strongly by barking and lunging. This is based on fear, not aggression. He is getting better and with further training and an understanding and patient forever parent, this may resolve.
Mikey loves his foster sister and his foster mom thinks that he would do best with a female companion in the home, or to be the only dog. He is almost 100% house-trained – what a smart boy! Foster mom taught him to sit, stay, come and touch and he learned these commands very quickly. He loves to learn and responds well. He is very active and alert, but calms down nicely.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of Mikey’s small size, he will only be adopted into a home with children over the age of 14. No exceptions.
