Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We do not adopt dogs from phone calls or emails. Please do not fill in adoption forms anywhere else, but on OUR web site. Thanks for that.
To start our adoption process, please fill out our form on our web site at: www.spokanewienerdogs.org and see the Adopt a Dog/Fee page with more details on how we adopt our dogs. There are a lot of questions answered on our web site and personality details below about each dog BELOW so please READ BEFORE getting in touch. We already answer 500+ emails a day. We do answer questions on dogs once our adoption paperwork is filled in so we can match to the right homes.
Please indicate which dog you are interested in on our adoption form. If their name says "pending home" then they are not available and are on a test drive with a new family. We do remove our dogs when our adoptions are final so please do not ask us if dogs are available if you see their ads.
There is an adoption fee of $200 for this dog.
Gunner is a round 13 pounds but he could lose some, 11 years old and in rescue when was not fitting into his last home after being adopted.
He is a very sweet, happy dog but we will place him with someone who knows this breed because he can be your typical pushy dachshund. Gunner thinks he can tell folks to feed him treats or come inside by yelling, etc. Whoever adopts him needs to help him make messes outside by watching him no matter the weather or again, typical with this breed.
He loves our other dogs here and is getting along fine with them but no really young dogs in his new home. Gunner does better with older dogs that are close to his age. He tries to play too much.
We are still testing him on cats but most in this breed are not kitty dogs.
Gunner has been allowed to tell folks what to do so we are working on telling because he is whining or barking that does not mean treats. After being passed around a bit he has mild separation anxiety so we are working on that as well.
We are really enjoying his funny wiener personality. If you want a funny senior in your home, then please have a small dog only close to his age and be prepared to crate him when gone. He is a typical dachshund who will not stay housebroke out of your sight plus he runs around yelling for people so easier for him if he just sleeps if no one is home.
His teeth have been cleaned recently so he has that done as well.
This has been a well loved and well spoiled boy in his home in the past so no signs of past abuse although he has a crooked tail. No clue about that of course. We think it adds character to a small dog with a larger personality.
Please do not fill in our form if you have young kids in the home or visiting often or do not have a fenced yard for him.
