My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maeve!

We believe she is a German Shepherd / Kelpie mix but could possibly have some Lab in her as well. She weighs 35 pounds. We think she is about a year old.

Maeve was found limping on a street in a bad part of town. She was the sweetest, so thankful to be fed and pleading for help. Of course we could not leave her behind. We took her to the clinic and found that her hip was dislocated most likely due from being hit by a car. She received surgery and is now as good as new. She also was lucky to find her way into an awesome foster home, where she recovered quickly and is now enjoying the sweet life of an inside dog.

Her foster mom describes Maeve as friendly, submissive and as a very mellow kind of lady. She approaches everyone, humans and dogs, with care and respect. Maeve gets along great with all dogs in her foster home from a Great Dane to a Shih Tzu. She has not been cat tested, but approached cats in crates at an event and didn’t have a care in the world. Her foster mom believes that Maeve would be fine with a cat, she does not have an aggressive personality and does not care about chasing things. She walks perfectly on leash and is already house & crate trained.

Here is what else her foster mom has to say about her:

Maeve is one of the calmest, laid back, easy dogs I’ve ever fostered. She completely trusts people immediately, never meets a stranger. Maeve would leave with the mailman, she loves everyone she meets instantly. Maeve roams free when I am at work and at night. I used a crate for her at first but learned quickly, within 3 days, that she does not need to be crated. She will pick up stray items like slippers and move them, sometimes she will chew but not a lot. We keep things up at my house so we don’t worry about it. I could see her picking up children’s toys and thinking they’re hers, but she gives up anything easily and just moves on.

Maeve will not be suited for an active family – she is VERY lazy, VERY quiet, VERY slow moving, and she is a big fan of sleeping on a soft bed. I think she’s lived outside her entire life and now she just wants to relax in a calm and quiet home. She likes kids, but she’s not going to get excited about being poked and pulled by a child. Maeve would make a great pet for an older person that wants an easy dog. Maeve is happy to go outside to potty and come right back in, she does not want to stay out. If other dogs are running and playing, she will join in, but it is short lived and she’s back on her bed. She enjoys car rides and travels perfectly in the car. I can’t express enough how calm, quiet, well mannered and laid back she is.
