Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Major is a sweet 45 lb 9 month old pup who most likely be a large dog. What breed he is, is a good question. The shelter in TN that he came from said Blue Heeler- Lab mix, but the vets in Illinois said an Australian Shepherd mix or a Catahoula
Mix, foster mom thinks his tail and fur around the neck could be a Husky mix and finally he had double dew claws which is common with Great Pyrenees dogs. Whatever he is, he is a wonderful pup.
Major is a pup without being too much pup. He plays nicely, yet is mainly calm. He does like to chew, so keeping chew toys around is a good thing. A fenced in yard is a must, as he loves to run around outside and he loves the snow:). He loves all dogs and he also is living with two cats now. He will chase the cats if they run, wanting to play with them, but will also just sit and hang out with them when the cat is laying around. He would be great with kids of all ages.
Major is not a fan of car rides. Major is very smart, he is housebroken, knows sit and "give paw". We are working on down and stay. He will gently jump on people but he is learning "off" very well and doesn't do that as much anymore. Major is neutered and his double dew claws have been removed. Major is a wonderful pup and will make an amazing companion for some lucky family.
Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.

Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family.
