My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet girl was rescued from Lafayette Animal Control. Joy looks like she received a summer cut a couple of months ago, but it has begun to grow out a bit. Joy seems to get along well with everyone and travelled beautifully on the trip from Louisiana. She is an affectionate and loving girl who is a bit overweight (at 83 lbs.), but with a little diet and exercise will soon have her girlish figure back. Joy is approximately 7 years old and is current on vaccinations and heartworm negative. This bouncy girl has a lot of spunk and a lot of love to give.

Foster Update 8/18/08:

After a month on thyroid medication, sweet baby Joy, now known as "The Sofa Princess", still has numbers in the "low normal" range. We have increased her meds and will check again in three weeks. The good news is she has lost three pounds. The princess gets along well people of all sizes and most other dogs as long as they don't dwell to long in her bikini area.

Foster Update 7/27/08:

Joy has been a little slow in shedding those few extra pounds, but her 'summer cut' is growing out.

Foster Update 7/16/08:

Joy has settled in with her foster brother and is taking medication for a low thyroid condition. She is good on leash and waits patiently while her brother reads and posts pee-mail at his usual drops. She is very content to lay on the floor or the furniture and happily follows as I move around the house. She was very friendly to humans at the Vet's office and curious about a cat in a carrier-who was very unhappy about his situation. Joy does seem to have issues with thunder. I was not home to see her reaction but things around the house had been disturbed. She will do a little counter-surfing as I discovered when several boneless chicken breasts disappeared while I was out of the kitchen. Joy will make a devoted and loving addition to a lucky family.
