My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet these sweet sisters Winky and Sookie. These dilute calicos have the most beautiful coloring. Winky is a big love bug once she warms up. She loves having her belly rubbed and will purr like a freight train. She’s not as playful as Sookie, but does like to bat around a cat dancer now and again. She really likes getting groomed, and likes to find a relaxed human to cuddle up with. She prefers to come to you rather than being approached. It is important for Winky to have a private area where she can hang out when she wants to be alone. A cat bed under the human bed or in a closet are good options. When she is in “her spot”, we make sure to leave her alone unless it’s necessary to bother her. Both Sookie and Winky like to sit by the window and watch the world. Winky is bonded to her sister Sookie and they must be adopted together. They will do best in a quiet home with no children. They were born around 09/16/2013.

Additional adoption info

Once you've filled out an application, we will contact your references and put you in touch with the foster/caregiver of the cat. Once your application is approved, we schedule you to attend a Zoom group seminar on cat care. We invite both novice and experienced alike to attend. Then you would sign the adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee, and make arrangements for the cat to be moved to your home. We always do a home visit which is both reassuring to the cat when it is being introduced and to the foster who has taken care of the cat. Presently we are doing home visits with FaceTime or Zoom to confirm you have secure windows, no toxic plants and a generally safe environment for a cat. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat under 7 years old, $75 for one cat 7 years and older.

All cats have been tested for the Feline Leukemia and FIV virus, vaccinated (FVRCP and Rabies vaccines), microchipped, dewormed and spayed/neutered. If you adopt kittens that are too young to be altered, we will arrange the spay/neuter/microchip at a later date at a partner vet.

More about this rescue

Anjellicle Cats Rescue is an all-volunteer registered 501c3 cat rescue committed to helping make New York a no-kill city. As one of the most active cat rescues in the 5 boroughs, ACR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out homeless cats and kittens, many of which are sick, injured or dismissed as unadoptable. Through a coalition of volunteer advocates and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home with the goal of adoption into a permanent, loving home.
