Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Fostok (Arabic for Pistachio) is a Baladi dog rescued from the streets of Cairo Egypt and flown to the U.S. for a chance at adoption. A Baladi dog(Egyptian street dog) has a little chance of finding a home in Egypt as Western breeds are preferred due to their status symbol and Baladi dogs since they are born on the streets are often dismissed and treated poorly. As a matter of fact learning to adapt and independently surviving on the streets for generations in hostile conditions has made Baladi dogs very instinctive and intelligent. This is a natural dog that came into existence thousands of years ago without human intervention. This makes them very hardy dogs without any known genetic diseases that most "pure breed dogs" of this world. However as a result of their hardship and suffering on the streets, they are often shy/cautious of strangers and therefore require extra love and gentleness when first dealing with them. In the end, kindness makes them love you and be loyal to you like no other dog ever could.
Fostok/ Pistachio is around 1 year old male Baladi pup. He is described as a calm, cool, and a social dog by a fosters, dog behaviorist & trainer. He is a very smart dog who recognizes & respects dog body language, making him a great playmate for similarly behaved dogs. He would do best in a home with a friendly dogs & fenced in yard to play. Fostok is good with kids and gentle around them. He also seems to love cats he knows. This sweet pup is currently being fostered in a home with multiple dogs, cats and young children and does great with them all. He is great with people he knows but will bark at strangers until he gets to know them which makes him a great watch dog.
This well-rounded, unique and beautiful boy does have a slight limp from a broken femur so activity should not be over demanding. He enjoys going for walks and playing in the yard with his doggie friends.
At the moment, Fostok/Pistachio is learning a few basic commands such as recognizing a recall command (doing great), his new name of "Pistachio" (doing well) & leash training.
Pistachio is healthy and up to date on all vaccines and also neutered.
Pistachio has traveled from Cairo, Egypt and currently being fostered in Quakertown, Pennsylvania.

Fostok's rescue story "in his own words":
Hello everybody my name is Fozdok (aka Pistachio). I am almost one year old now. I born and was living in a beautiful garden on the banks of the Nile, Egypt. I was a very lucky pup as few loving ladies used to stop by, play with me and feed me a delicious meal every day.
As a little street pup life was good until one fateful night I got viciously attacked by a huge dog at his owner's command . He pulled me so hard I felt his sharp teeth dug deep in my skin. I could feel my body being tossed left and right. I cried and called for help but the people just kept watching, cheering and clapping. I couldn't understand why no one is helping me. Why are they laughing at me agony. Sadly for them my pain and watching my blood pour was very entertaining as I was merely a street dog.
After what seemed like hours, one man splashed water on my attacker which scared him off and then his owner walked away with him.
I ran and ran and ran dragging my bleeding leg. The pain was very sharp but my fear was greater. I finally found a spot under a parked car and collapsed there. Hours later I could hear 4 or 5 of my lady friends call my name but I hid even more and I must have passed out.
Two days later I got really hungry. So I came out looking for food. My whole body ached but the worst pain came from my hip. I was too weak to go looking for food so I went back to my old spot and just fell asleep on the grass there.
When I woke up I was in a place they called the animal clinic. Although I was scared, I saw all these familiar faces around me touching me, comforting me, feeding me. Doctors checked my whole body and took X-rays. I heard them say I had a broken femur.
I was operated on and stayed in the clinic for months. They wouldn't let me go before they made sure I was 100% OK.
However my rescuers did not have the heart to put me back on the streets as they thought I was so special. So I was moved to a lovely lady's home who took care of me and loved me. And now I am so blessed to be in the U.S. to find my loving forever home. My only wish is to go to my loving home this holiday season. Is it you who will love me and keep me safe for the rest of my life? If your heart says YES please waste no time and email Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com to come to meet me. I am here waiting for you......
