Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Emerson was surrendered to a rural shelter when his young owner, who had received him as a gift, realized she didn't have time for a puppy. Please, NEVER give a dog or puppy as a gift!
Emerson is out-going and energetic.
BREED INFORMATION: TOY FOX TERRIER
A diminutive, agile, sweet-faced terrier that retains the hunting instincts and tenacity of its larger terrier cousins. The Toy Fox Terrier’s noble head is distinctive, with erect ears that may stand straight up or fold just at the tips. Another distinguishing feature is its articulate, oval-shaped foot. The breed standard has always allowed for the dog to be docked or undocked. Natural bobtails are known to occur. There are only three permitted color combinations: black and white, tan and white, and tri-color (black, white and tan).
Temperament
Loyal, inquisitive, fearless, active and adaptable. Toy Fox Terriers have an almost dual personality: at the first sign of suspicion, danger or alarm, the demure, pampered lapdog turns instantly into a fearless watchdog, tenacious vermin killer, and intrepid hunter. They are good with children who are old enough to distinguish between a dog and a plush toy, and generally get along with other pets. However, like all terriers, the Toy Fox Terrier cannot distinguish between pet rodents or pet reptiles and vermin, and should not be left alone with such animals.

Emerson deserves to be an indoor dog and to live with a responsible and caring person or family. We require an approved adoption application and we normally ask potential adopters to visit once before the adoption is approved. We also reserve the right to make a home inspection. Emerson is VERY SPECIAL and will stay here until the right match comes along. If you would like to arrange to meet him or if you have additional questions, please email or call us.
Emerson will be neutered and fully vetted before adoption. He is free of all parasites and is on monthly heartworm prevention. His adoption donation is $225, 100% of which is used to offset our expenses for high-quality dog food, excellent vet care, and the numerous other expenses involved in rescue. Most of the dogs and puppies we foster are in need of extensive rehab as a result of the abuse and neglect they have endured. We rescue only four or five dogs at one time so that we can give them that individual attention.
Thank you for considering a rescue dog!!
