Nellie was dumped by her owners. Perhaps it was because she couldn't have puppies anymore or maybe it was because of the large mammary tumors they didn't want to take care of. She is a 3yo petite harlequin female weighing in at 94lbs (underweight).
So she had her vet visit this AM, scared to death the poor girl. The tumors are quite large and there are several of them. There is no doubt that they are mammary tumors We are happy to report, that her chest x-ray was clean. The tumors could be ok now, but in a year, they may not be, they could even split open, get infected, just overall a potential problem. For her safety and future health, we thought it best to have them removed to prevent any further problems. She will come home with bandages and drains that will need to stay in for 5 days. It will be a rough week for her foster family and for Nellie.
Please help by making a donation towards Nellie's surgery.

Help her get the family and love she deserves
Update 10/20
Nellie's biopsy results are back and we are so happy to report that she is cancer free! We will be continuing to wrap her belly and hopefully her drains will come out at the end of the week.
Update 10/23
Millie had her drains out today. She is making great progress. We did have to put the cone on her head because she won't leave her bandages along. Her staples will come out next week.
Nellie will be placed in Maine or New Hampshire only.
As with all of our dogs, Nelliw wil come with 30 days of ShelterCare Insurance and a microchip.
