Sweet miss Millie came to us from a great family who loved her and cared for her and adored her every day of her life from the moment she came to them as a puppy. For six years she was spoiled by her human parents, and snuggled by the kids, and lived in a happy home. And then, something happened so that her family needed to get a service dog. There are very clear rules with service dogs, which say that a service dog has to be the only dog in a house, so it bonds with the people, and not the other dog. So, tearfully Millie had to be put up for adoption.
So, Millie came to us. She is so very wonderful. She is shy, but friendly.
She likes people of all ages, and other dogs, though she did not have other dogs in her house.
She is learning that she does not have to guard her food around other dogs, but she is learning that quickly.
For an older dog, she is great at new tricks. A quick verbal correction is all it takes to get Millie back on track with her manners.
Millie looks her people right in the face and talks to them, chatting like we can understand her, and sometimes it feels like we can.
For an older girl, she loves to dance, especially when she wakes up in the morning, bouncing on her tiptoes with joy.
She didn’t play with her toys much when she came to us, but she is beginning to come out of her shell of shyness, and show us how much fun she wants to share while playing ball and tug.
She’s still learning to share the newfound playthings, but like with the food, she is easily reminded of her manners, and goes back to play.
She loves everyone, but will choose a favorite in the family. She is gentle, and sweet-spirited, and just lovely in every way.
