Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Riley’s adoption fee is $375.
Hi! My name is Riley. I’m a Yorkshire Terrier mix, and I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines and am micro chipped. I weigh about 9 pounds. I’m 2 years old and full of young dog energy. I would play ball for hours and hours, and if there is no ball, I will play tug. But I do prefer balls! If you don’t want to play I may whine for a couple minutes, but will eventually find a spot to nap like your knee or on the back of the couch or on the floor at your feet.
I have never been left alone much, so I cry when you leave but stop in a little while. I don’t go in my crate at my foster home, but I am supposed to be crate trained. My foster mom is going to try to see how I do in the crate at night now that I am comfortable here (I had chosen to sleep under my foster mom’s bed up to this point). I have only had two accidents (my first day) in my foster home, but once I knew the routine I am really good.
I am a good boy with other dogs, but I do not like to share my toys – we’re working on that.
I like to run and sniff in the fenced yard and on walks - my nose is to the ground most of the time. Long walks are not my thing, as I had a broken leg as a puppy and it gets pretty tired after a while, but I still like going for walks. Although I walk pretty well on the leash, I could use some fine tuning. I know sit and down commands, but have a really hard time with ‘stay’ because I am a busy boy, but if someone took the time (and treats) I am sure I could learn anything – training classes would probably help me a lot.
I’m a good eater and am treat motivated. I do have a habit that my foster family is working on – when I go outside I screech and scream for about a minute, and it’s really loud. My foster mom is teaching me to go out without announcing to the neighbours where I am, LOL. The treats sure are helping – my new family will need to continue working on this with me.
My friends at Tiny Paws feels that I’d be best suited for an active family living in a single home because of the noise I can make when going outside and when left alone, and a fenced yard where I can run and play would be ideal. I’m a great little guy with lots of love and a willingness to please – I just need a family who can work a bit with refining my behaviors. Would you be my teacher?
