Pippin was rescued along with her 4 siblings from the Apple Valley Shelter where a man brought them into the shelter in a box with their umbilical cords still attached and with no mother. It is truly a miracle that these little babies even survived...they are strong and definitely wanting to live. Our job is to find them a happy and wonderful home for the rest of their lives where they will never again be so discarded.
GreenDog Foundation rescued the siblings and all are thriving now. We have no knowledge of what the mother or father is and by the looks of all the siblings, there were probably multiple fathers. We do know that these will be tiny dogs. They are 6 weeks now and the largest tops the scale at 2 pounds. Most likely, Pippin will be a 7 to 10 pound dog. All the kids are litterbox trained (and yes...I said 'litterbox trained').
Babies such as Pippin are adopted out on a 'foster to adopt' basis. An adoption fee of $350 is paid which covers all of Pippin's vetting provided she continues to see one of our vets. The adoption fee covers the entire series of vaccinations, fecal testings and dewormings, microchipping and spaying or neutering once they are old enough to be spayed or neutered (this is determined by our vet and is dependent upon their size). Once all vetting has been completed, a final adoption contract is completed and the adoption is finalized.
