Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Updated bio 10-9-16 Hi, my name is Sophie. I am a spayed, senior pup. I will be 12 years old on January 21st. I weigh a whole 5 pounds. Please don’t let my age scare you. I have lots of time to love a new family and for a new family to love me back.
Sophie's adoption fee is $125 and includes all vetting (neuter/spay, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Sophie by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.
I was alone and lost on the streets until I was picked up and taken to the shelter. When no one came to claim me and my time was running out a kind lady notified United Yorkie Rescue that I needed help. That is when my foster mom came, scooped me up, and took me home to my foster home. At that time my foster mom said I was a pitiful mess. I was dirty and had so many infections. It took five baths to get my skin clean and stop some of the worst itching I had from the dirt and fleas.
My foster mom took me to the vet who diagnosed me with Alopecia which means I don’t have hair on some parts of my body. They said that the hair loss was from a really bad case of severe flea infestation. I also had a middle ear infection in both ears and an eye infection in both eyes. Thank goodness I have been on medication for all these things and I am doing so much better and feel so much better. I still itch a little, but my hair is starting to grow back in and I am getting so beautiful. I get some special baths every other day.
Soon I will be getting a dental and have the 2 small bumps on my back taken care of. I went to the groomers and got a really nice professional grooming. I love going on car rides. I walk nicely on a leash. I am not totally house trained yet, though I am learning. I do like to do my business on the cement instead of the grass. I am not sure about potty pads, so I do have some house training to do before I can go to my forever home. I like the other dogs in the house and I even like cats. I am fine with older kids who are patient and kind with me. I love people and I love to snuggle with my foster mom and dad. I love having my own doggie bed and I am fine in my crate too.
Something sad about me was once a long time ago someone decided I should not have a voice, so now when I bark it is rough and gruff, which is always at meal times. My foster mom now feeds me by myself because I like to eat from my bowl and from everyone else’s bowl too. Well, that’s all from me now. Here are just a few words from my foster mommy.
Sophie is just the sweetest girl. She still has a little ways to go before she can go to her forever home. Sophie gets along with the other dogs in the home, but she may prefer to be an only dog. Sophie’s medical needs will cost United Yorkie Rescue a lot of money, please find it in your heart to donate to her to help us with the cost of that care.
Please check back soon to see how Sophie is progressing.
