Talk about travelin' down that Rocky Road -- and talk about appropriate names! Whew! We would like you to meet Rocky! Rocky's future was not looking all that bright not too long ago - he landed himself in a shelter because his owner came upon tough times, and things were not looking too good for this adorable and super friendly pup. There he sat - day after day. He had a skin condition that needed to be treated, and he was one of many in that shelter that needed a home. Rocky's shelter pals contacted us at All Shepherd Rescue and asked us to help - and we contacted our many friends and supporters and asked them for help. We all pulled together to bring Rocky in....and we did it! Rocky is safe; he is now being treated for his skin condition. His skin condition, fortunately turned out to be Red Mange or Demodectic Mange - which, thankfully, is not contagious and easily treatable. Rocky is at a nearby veterinary hospital being treated and charming the doctors and staff. He will be picked up and taken to his foster home shortly.
Rocky is just about the sweetest boy you could ever meet! He wants nothing more than to be your best buddy forever! He is wiggly and kissy and very loving to everyone. Rocky is very eager to please and will make a wonderful family pet. He does need to learn his manners and how to behave in a home and in public - he is a baby after all. So just as a small child would be taught - firmly and lovingly, so shall a puppy learn. It is never to early to start with those manners! You will fall in love with Rocky immediately - trust me! Please contact us to arrange to meet him.
UPDATE: 9/8/11
Rocky is proving to be a wonderfully behaved foster puppy. He loves his bigger fur-foster brothers and sister, and he just loves people - everyone! He has settled in and is living large! Rocky did meet the three resident kitties - and it was a rather funny first time meeting for him - and not so amusing for the cats! He apparently is not familiar with kitties and alternately wanted to play and then chase....and chase....and chase and bark. He is very interested in the chase. The kitties were not a happy group! Since he is only a baby - this may change, but then again, it may not....A kitty free home would probably be best for this little guy, unless steps are taken to make sure that Rocky and kitties are kept separate, and this may not be a practical solution. All in all, Rocky is doing well - he is fine in a crate both for short periods during the day and at night. He is clean and does his business outdoors - no accidents so far.. He is learning to sit when asked, he takes treats gently, learning the command "off", and he is enjoying his walks - with relatively little pulling on the leash. Rocky is a fantastic little pup - and he can't wait to meet you!
