My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Trucker. Look no further, I’m the one you have been searching for. I was told I’m a handsome young pup, only 2 years old with an extremely gorgeous brindle coat. I weigh around 52 pounds and they assume I’m a Lab / Staffordshire terrier mix or maybe I have some Shepherd or Hound in me as well.

I currently live in heaven (aka foster home) thanks to my foster mom, who decided to help me get ready for my forever family. I had spent quite some time in boarding and kennel life had really gotten to me. I felt really lonely and bored and sometimes I thought I was lost. My rescue decided to give me a break and help me socialize and learn manners by sending me to a board and train program. After I successfully graduated from my training, my foster mom welcomed me into her home. Now my favorite things to do are going on walks, car rides, playing with my furry foster brother and snuggle on the couch. Thanks mom!

This is what my foster mom had to say about me:
“He doesn’t need to be crated at night anymore (Ollie, his foster sibling, has taken over his crate, he likes the security and Trucker does not mind sharing) and we have been leaving him for extended periods without being in the crate in the daytime. After a set of blinds were destroyed, we realized he just wanted to be able to see out the window into the back yard, so as long as we keep them up and open, we have had no worries.

He loves his people. As long as he has you in his sight, he sits quietly all day long. He is a good guard dog, barking to let you know if someone is at the door, but easily quieted once you assure him it is ok. He has gotten to the point where he will now tell you he needs to go out to the yard (to potty, to investigate a dog on the other side of the fence) by sitting at the backdoor. If you don't respond quick enough he gives a little bark, as if to say, 'Hey, I am sitting here and need your attention.'

He knows he is not allowed on furniture and does not attempt to get on unless I put the special 'couch blanket' down, then he and Ollie tussle to see who can sit closest to me. He will give the cutest hugs if I am laying on the couch- he puts his two paws on my shoulders and nuzzles his head under mine until hug him back.

He sits on commands, waits for permission to eat and walks well on his leash. He comes when he knows there is a food reward about 90% of the time, without food 50%. He shares very well, in fact he and foster brother, Ollie, have been known to chew on the same bone at times, a la the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp. His playful wrestling might be too much for an older dog.

He does fine with small kids after the initial introduction, in fact he only really gets overexcited with his foster mom. He has not jumped up to any counters, although you can see his nose going a mile a minute. He is suspicious of uncut watermelon but as soon as it is cut, he is happy to share a piece with you.”
There you have it! I’m house and crate trained, good with dogs, kids and really love all people. I’m outgoing, very playful and listen on command. Oh, and I will protect you from the mean watermelon if need to. See my video to view my protection skills.

Can’t wait to meet you soon!
